I have 100 followers!

When I started this little blog, I never imagined I would reach 100 followers!

To let you know how much I LOVE all my faithful followers (because I have found so many new and wonderful blogs/ideas because of you), I decided it’s time for a giveaway!

I have just discovered these amazing leap frog dvds.

I teach the afterschool reading program for Kindergarteners and they are devouring the Letter Factory. It has such a neat way of connecting the letter names and sounds, and it is especially helping many of the ELL children in the program. The winner of this giveaway will receive the leap frog video of their choice!

Here’s how to enter:

Leave a comment for each entry.
1. Become a follower.
2. Leave a comment letting me know which movie you would prefer.
3. Leave a comment telling me your favorite Valentine’s book/activity for your class. (I love to get me some new ideas!)
4. Mention this blog and giveaway on your blog.
5. Facebook about this giveaway.

That gives you 5 chances to win!
Good luck!

Giveaway ends Friday, February 4th.

I love all the videos and it really hard to pick beteer the letter factory & the word making factory. However, I would probably start at the beginnig and pick the letter factory.

Thank you for introducing me to these. Even if I dot win I might just purchase these at a later time. However, I would LOVE to win one.

It's hard to pick just 1 Valentine activity as a favorite because I love so many. If I had to pick just one it would be the hand print heart. Basicly the students make a heart by putting paint in the palm of their hands and placing their hands one at a time down on paper, with their finger tips as the bottom (point) of the heart. You really have to see a picture. I don't think I am making sense.

My favorite book is Love Splat by Rob Scotton. I love all the Splat books.

Just started following, I found you through Ms. M. I would LOVE the Code Caper Video... we do a lot with Silent E in 2nd grade.

My favorite Valentine's activity is to write a compliment about each student in addition to exchanging Valentines. Much more personal and meaningful. The kids love seeing what their peers appreciate about them.

My favorite Valentine activity is to graph and sort the Valentine sweethearts! It's great now, because you can buy the boxes of the Sweethearts and tape a pencil to it and count it as your Valentine to them, and you don't have to divvy up the hearts from the bulk bags. Although, that is the cheaper route sometimes. I also love, love, love to have the student's glue their valentine's in a book from their friends, and then they write who it is from underneath. I have also had Mom's tell me how much they loved this idea, because the student's can keeo their Valentine's without having them scattered all over the house! I got this idea from yours truly though, so sorry if you were going to blog about it.

My favorite Valentine's Day activity is the wrinkled heart.

A WRINKLED HEART ACTIVITY

1. Class is seated on the floor,
2. Start talking about the difference in the things we say that make people feel good or that hurt them.
3. While talking, cut a big heart from construction paper
4. After it is cut out, hold it up and tell the children that each one of us starts out with a heart that is as pretty as this one.
5. Have the children begin sharing things that a person might say that might be hurtful to someone. With each response, fold the heart in random ways for each "hurtful"
sentence or word.
6. Eventually the heart is crumpled in your hands.
7. Tell the class that each time they say something hurtful to someone, they are putting a little wrinkle in that person's heart.
8. Then have the children begin to tell things that they might say to someone to make that person feel good.
9. With each response, UNFOLD one of the creases in the heart. Eventually you will have pressed out all of the "hurts"...except, of course, for the fact that the wrinkles can still be seen, even though the heart is now
unfolded.
10. Talk about how we each have those wrinkles in our hearts from things
that people have said to us, and that the wrinkles last forever.
11. Stress that we want to be careful with what we say so as to not add wrinkles to anyone's heart.
12. We put that heart up in a high corner of the bulletin board and leave it in plain view all year. Frequently someone will mention it...that their heart is wrinkled like that one, etc.
13. Get in the habit of hugging someone whose heart is broken and giving the class a chance to iron out the wrinkles.

So I also graduated from BYUI in 2005 in El Ed and I teach in Rexburg, but once I saw Mrs. Sullenger I figured out where YOU work since she was a practicum student in my classroom 3 years ago and she told me where she was student teaching. Anyways I do love your blog. I've recently started my own teaching blog and would love any tips or even just a link from your blog to generate more traffic!!
